It’s a …..
We got our referral this week! (Referral = baby match)
And it’s a girl!
(For privacy reasons, we aren’t posting her picture….but I will post one when she arrives home, I promise.)
Everything is happening much faster than even our social worker predicted. We had just finished our home study on September 27 and had our USCIS (aka INS) fingerprinting appointment for this Wednesday already scheduled when “The Call” came.
Monday: October 27, 2008 @ 11:53 AM
Why is the date/time so important? Well, I predicted the 27th (but in all honesty, I said the 27th of October OR November OR December) and My love predicted the 11:53AM. (Yes, the 11:53AM exactly!) Gotta love that, huh?
So, what’s next? Well, another BIG wait. Our baby girl is now 5 1/2 months old. We are in the process of applying for her immigration visas and this process will take any where from 2-4 months. After that? Then the paperwork goes to South Korea and the travel arrangements are made. We are anticipating her arrival sometime in late January – February – or Early March.
And what are we going to do in the meantime? (You mean, besides obsess over the two gorgeous photos of her that we have?) Well, now the fun begins! Now that we know a little more (and have a TON more anxious/joyful energy to burn!), we can get started with baby room planning, painting, organizing, etc.
And I will finally get the books and other items that I have for auction (to help raise money for adoption expenses, etc) up and running. (Hmm… maybe perfect timing for holiday gift giving?)
Anyway – I thought I’d do a quick post update. I wanted to explain my blog absence this week.
And no worries – I’ll be back soon with food.
In the meantime, I’m just floating over the moon.
I have to run – the 100th Trick-or-Treater (no kidding – we are at #100 and it’s only 8:00 PM!) has just rung the doorbell. Happy Halloween All!
In the meantime – (and if you have the time), Mark M is doing a Graduate study about people who need “allergan-friendly food”. He has sent me a survey and would love to get as many responses as possible by the end of next week (November 7, 2008). You can download the survey here and email it as an attachment to Mark when you are done. Mark’s email: MarkMoccia AT gmail DOT com (replace the AT and DOT with an @ and a .)

YAY! Oh my god, I can’t really explain how happy I am for you. That’s so cool!

Congratulations! That’s great news. A mentor of mine has two adopted girls from China, so I KNOW how much the waiting can be so stressful. Good luck!

Oh Kate, I’m late to the party here. we’ve been so busy with our baby girl that I haven’t been reading many blogs. But I’m so so so happy for you.
And if there’s anything I can do — clothes or advice or just plain grinning happy stories about babies — please let me know!
